LIFE IN FOSTER CARE IS LIKE A SUBWAY RIDE
Life in care starts at Union Station
You start on a train
It takes you on a trip
The path is dark, isolated and confusing
As you travel, you wonder what the next station will look like
Every station is completely different, yet serves the same purpose
It is exciting to try and guess what the next station will look like
After a while you get used to the dark tunnels between stops
You no longer see the tunnels as long and dark, but rather just a short period of time
As you go on through this journey, (northbound)
You get to Bloor
A MAJOR CROSSROAD IN LIFE
You now have a choice to make
(Like at 18 years in care)
Do you stay underground in the "SYSTEM" by transferring
and going along Bloor, or do you keep heading north where
it takes you above ground, where you can see the sky,
the clouds, and all the freedom all around?
Even though the ride along bloor will be longer, familiar, and safe,
I can not help but want to taste the freedom of the open sky, to see
a change of scenery from the dark lonely tunnels of restrictions.
I go north.on a one way ticket to freedom.
